School Starts Tuesday

E-mail Print PDF

Charger Families,

Ready or not, here it comes...school starts Tuesday!  I'm sure most of you are like me, wondering where the summer has gone.  Your PTSA has already been hard at work planning for success this year.  Most of our positions are filled, but we still have a couple of openings on the Board.  If you would like to serve in one of these open positions please contact any officer and let them know.  As know that you are welcome at every one of our meetings.  The next one is September 14, 2010 at 7 PM in the Media Center at CHS.

The Charger Football Team is off the a great start with a win over South County.  I was there to witness the opening win and they looked good, especially for the first game of the season.  Come on out and support the Chargers this year!

As always, please feel free to contant me if I can be of service!

Leonard Litton

PTSA President

Welcome to the 2010-2011 School Year

E-mail Print PDF

Dear Charger Families,

Welcome back for the 2010-11 school year at Chantilly High School! My name is Leonard Litton and I will serve as your PTSA President for this upcoming school year. I want you to know that your PTSA has already been hard at work planning for success. We exist to work together as a Community to help all students envision, develop, and achieve their full potential. We do that thorough a myriad of programs, events, and financial support to enhance the learning environment at CHS. However, we cannot do this without you and we need your support, both financially and time and effort. Please consider joining PTSA and helping us “Make a Difference” not only in the life of your student, but every student at CHS.

Look for these important changes for 2010/2011 Academic Year

  • Student Directories are included in all Parent and Teacher membership dues.
  • Improved Online registration and payment for PTSA membership, ANGP, ACT/SAT/PRA Practice Tests, Donations etc.
  • More ACT/SAT/PRA Practice Tests Dates.

We hope that the online sign-up will make it simpler for you to join the PTSA, pay for ANGP, make donations, schedule for ACT/SAT Practice Tests, etc.

In addition to joining PTSA, please do the following:

  • Review the Proposed PTSA Budget and vote to approve it.
  • Review the Legislative Ballot and cast your vote.
  • Print out the Volunteer form and indicate where you will help.

There are many ways you can help, and you can choose the manner that best fits your lifestyle. Perhaps you could tutor students Saturday mornings with the STEP program; or proctor SAT, AP or SOL tests; cook a special dish for the teacher luncheon; help with a PTSA sponsored program like the All Night Grad Party. Find a way that works for you – you’ll be rewarded by knowing you “made a difference!”

Return your forms and ballots via your student’s first period teacher or mail them to the address above.

Visit our web site at http://www.chantillyhsptsa.org to get information about PTSA activities. Meeting notices, newsletters, All Night Grad Party news, volunteer opportunities, Reflections program winners and legislative items will be posted there. Forms, ballots and surveys are also available for downloading. Watch for announcements of programs on a variety of issues, including teen parenting, Fairfax County school policies, and town halls with local elected officials.

Sign up to receive the on-line newsletter, which is produced monthly by the PTSA and Chantilly High School. Register with “Keep in Touch” at www.fcps.edu and then choose “Chantilly High School” to receive this and other school-specific information. (If you would rather receive a printed copy, contact the office of KT Lynch, Subschool 3 Principal, at 703-222-8130 or email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. It’s important that the PTSA remain vital in our community. Please contact me personally and let me know how the PTSA can better serve you, your student and their teachers. I look forward to working with you this year.

Sincerely,

Leonard Litton (703) 865-6052

Discovery Studios is searching for families to take part in a new television special about the causes, impacts and most effective methods for treating childhood obesity. The program will focus on the many challenges children face in maintaining a healthy weight, a problem millions of American families struggle with each day.

The special will explore various facets of the issue through personal stories of children and families, along with insight from leading experts in the field. It will also reveal how families can work with therapists, nutritionists and others medical professionals to pursue a healthier weight and lifestyle.

Participating families will receive an initial round of comprehensive weight-management counseling, and will be offered assistance in finding licensed professionals for long-term support.

All inquiries will be kept confidential.
