From Valerie Cantor:
As the parent of a Chantilly High School student, you may want to know about an opportunity to make your voice heard to FCPS administration through a series of meetings held throughout the year. They are Parent Advisory Council meetings and they're held by both the Superintendent (Jack Dale) and the Assistant Superintendent for our cluster (Linda Burke, Cluster VII). At these meetings, which I have attended for many years representing Greenbriar East, Rocky Run and now Chantilly, topics are discussed in depth such as the budget issues of the day, special programs available to FCPS students such as language immersion, full-day kindergarten, GT services (now called "Advanced Academic Programs"), transportation, etc. SPAC (Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council) meetings are held in the evening at Gatehouse Center in Falls Church. Cluster PAC meetings are held both mornings and evenings, usually in an elementary school within the cluster. ALL PARENTS are invited to these meetings; dates and times are posted on the FCPS website. It's really a great opportunity to see how the system works, for communicating with top-level administrators and to understand how and why decisions are made that will affect your children's education. If you have any questions about attending or concerns you would like me to share at the next meeting, please contact me at (703) 631-2815 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
