Vision Statement

Chantilly High School PTSA: Working together to help all students envision, develop, and achieve their full potential.

 

 

Mission Statement

The mission of Chantilly High School PTSA is to:

  • Advocate for the involvement of all parents in the education of their children
  • Promote positive relationships among parents, teachers, administrators, and students
  • Serve as an open and respectful forum for the exchange of information and ideas that foster the learning environment
  • Identify, promote, and implement programs to facilitate the educational advancement and social well-being of all students, teachers, and parents
  • Strive to be an organization that is relevant in today’s world

 

Goals

  1. Increase our relevance among our members and in the community
    1. Devise and distribute a survey to our members to find out what they want and need from the PTSA
    2. Obtain membership legislative priorities and forward to the Northern Virginia PTA District
    3. Obtain membership vote on legislative actions and forward to the Northern Virginia PTA District
    4. Send a representative to General Assembly PTA Day 2010
    5. Establish an online venue to improve our dialog with members
  2. Increase the numbers, diversity, and makeup of our organization
    1. Hold at least three separate membership drive events throughout the year
    2. Mail membership forms and information to all members
    3. Accept online payment for memberships, directories, donations
    4. Execute a contact event focused on increasing the diversity of our membership
    5. Hold at least one event (i.e. coffee, town hall meeting) during the year focused on increasing the diversity of our membership
  3. Sponsor programs to educate parents, teachers, and students on education related topics
    1. Host programs designed to provide pertinent information for parents
    2. Host programs focused on obtaining additional academic help for students such as tutoring
    3. Host a Town Meeting with local elected officials
    4. Advertise each event extensively with a goal of an average of 50 parents attending
  4. Sponsor programs to enhance the social well-being of the students, teachers, and administrators
    1. Plan, promote, and execute the After-Prom Party
    2. Plan, promote, and execute the All-Night Grad Party
    3. Plan, promote, and execute Staff Appreciation Breakfast in the fall
    4. Plan, promote, and execute Staff Appreciation Lunch in the spring
    5. Promote the Parent Pledge (Parents Who Host Lose the Most) and post signatories on web site
  5. Financially support teacher, student, and administration programs that enhance the learning environment at CHS
    1. Fund and award academic scholarships for CHS students
    2. Fund and provide staff enrichment opportunities
    3. Fund and provide student enrichment opportunities
  6. Enhance the recognition of achievements, successes, and awards of students, teachers, administrators, and parents
    1. Present gifts to retiring teachers
    2. Fund and obtain a highly visible bulletin board location at CHS for PTSA-related postings (minutes, congratulations, features, celebrations)
    3. Three times a year (fall, winter, spring) hold a recognition ceremony for outstanding students, staff, and volunteers
  7. Collaborate more effectively with other CHS booster organizations, fellow PTSA organizations, and School Board representatives
    1. An officer will hold one to three informal meetings with representatives from neighboring high school PTSAs
    2. An officer will hold one to three informal meetings with representatives from Chantilly Pyramid PTAs
    3. Have a representative attend at least two FCCPTA board meetings and every general membership meeting
    4. Have at least one member attend five CHS booster club organizational meetings
    5. Encourage all members to attend Virginia PTA Convention in November 2009 (Fredericksburg) with full voting delegation
    6. Have at least one officer attend every Advisory Board for Student Services meeting
  8. Promote and support the training of PTSA officers and members
    1. Provide funding to send at least three members to Virginia PTA Leadership Training Conference in 2010
    2. Encourage all officers to take relevant PTA online courses
  9. Establish formal written processes for staff enrichment, student scholarship, and grant funding
    1. Write a process for the selection and awarding of staff enrichment funds
    2. Write a process for the selection and awarding of student scholarships
    3. Write a process for the selection and awarding of grant funding
  10. Improve our communication to our members and the community at large
    1. Advocate for a “Wall of Fame” at the high school to recognize students, staff, and volunteers
    2. Provide a web site that will provide accurate, relevant, and timely information and will be enduring
    3. Integrate and coordinate distribution of information between web site and newsletter
    4. Employ at least one new communication channels with parents
