Chantilly High School PTSA: Working together to help all students envision, develop, and achieve their full potential.
Mission Statement
The mission of Chantilly High School PTSA is to:
- Advocate for the involvement of all parents in the education of their children
- Promote positive relationships among parents, teachers, administrators, and students
- Serve as an open and respectful forum for the exchange of information and ideas that foster the learning environment
- Identify, promote, and implement programs to facilitate the educational advancement and social well-being of all students, teachers, and parents
- Strive to be an organization that is relevant in today’s world
Goals
- Increase our relevance among our members and in the community
- Devise and distribute a survey to our members to find out what they want and need from the PTSA
- Obtain membership legislative priorities and forward to the Northern Virginia PTA District
- Obtain membership vote on legislative actions and forward to the Northern Virginia PTA District
- Send a representative to General Assembly PTA Day 2010
- Establish an online venue to improve our dialog with members
- Increase the numbers, diversity, and makeup of our organization
- Hold at least three separate membership drive events throughout the year
- Mail membership forms and information to all members
- Accept online payment for memberships, directories, donations
- Execute a contact event focused on increasing the diversity of our membership
- Hold at least one event (i.e. coffee, town hall meeting) during the year focused on increasing the diversity of our membership
- Sponsor programs to educate parents, teachers, and students on education related topics
- Host programs designed to provide pertinent information for parents
- Host programs focused on obtaining additional academic help for students such as tutoring
- Host a Town Meeting with local elected officials
- Advertise each event extensively with a goal of an average of 50 parents attending
- Sponsor programs to enhance the social well-being of the students, teachers, and administrators
- Plan, promote, and execute the After-Prom Party
- Plan, promote, and execute the All-Night Grad Party
- Plan, promote, and execute Staff Appreciation Breakfast in the fall
- Plan, promote, and execute Staff Appreciation Lunch in the spring
- Promote the Parent Pledge (Parents Who Host Lose the Most) and post signatories on web site
- Financially support teacher, student, and administration programs that enhance the learning environment at CHS
- Fund and award academic scholarships for CHS students
- Fund and provide staff enrichment opportunities
- Fund and provide student enrichment opportunities
- Enhance the recognition of achievements, successes, and awards of students, teachers, administrators, and parents
- Present gifts to retiring teachers
- Fund and obtain a highly visible bulletin board location at CHS for PTSA-related postings (minutes, congratulations, features, celebrations)
- Three times a year (fall, winter, spring) hold a recognition ceremony for outstanding students, staff, and volunteers
- Collaborate more effectively with other CHS booster organizations, fellow PTSA organizations, and School Board representatives
- An officer will hold one to three informal meetings with representatives from neighboring high school PTSAs
- An officer will hold one to three informal meetings with representatives from Chantilly Pyramid PTAs
- Have a representative attend at least two FCCPTA board meetings and every general membership meeting
- Have at least one member attend five CHS booster club organizational meetings
- Encourage all members to attend Virginia PTA Convention in November 2009 (Fredericksburg) with full voting delegation
- Have at least one officer attend every Advisory Board for Student Services meeting
- Promote and support the training of PTSA officers and members
- Provide funding to send at least three members to Virginia PTA Leadership Training Conference in 2010
- Encourage all officers to take relevant PTA online courses
- Establish formal written processes for staff enrichment, student scholarship, and grant funding
- Write a process for the selection and awarding of staff enrichment funds
- Write a process for the selection and awarding of student scholarships
- Write a process for the selection and awarding of grant funding
- Improve our communication to our members and the community at large
- Advocate for a “Wall of Fame” at the high school to recognize students, staff, and volunteers
- Provide a web site that will provide accurate, relevant, and timely information and will be enduring
- Integrate and coordinate distribution of information between web site and newsletter
- Employ at least one new communication channels with parents
